Situation is still fluid, but the three most powerful contending forces are Cao Cao, Yuan Shao, and by a narrow margin Liu Bei thanks to his overabundant number of officers.

Also, Wu Obi's vast improvements are apparent.

While contemplating his destiny Zhuge Liang pays another visit. This time Liu Bei's protection sounds attractive.

Wu Obi bends is his knees without hesitation.
In Jiangling, Wu Obi has yielded to Liu Bei's words and been hired.

Wu Obi: "I swear loyalty to you, Liu Bei."

Wu Obi's reputation in duty and greed precedes him. Boy: "Wang Ji of Liu Biao Army has arrived. Shall I let them in?"

This intrigues Wu Obi.
Wu Obi: "Yes". Wang Ji: "Will you serve Liu Biao and lend us your strength?"

Suddenly Wu Obi remembers his encounters with Mi Zhu and Guan Yu. Wu Obi: "I will pretend I didn't hear that."

Wang Lang: "Let me get straight to the point. We need you on our side. Will you serve under I?"
Wang Lang is poorer than Wu Obi. Wu Obi kindly asks Wang Lang to get out.

Meanwhile Sun Jian is attacked by Wang Lang and Sun Jian's last remaining province becomes Liu Bei's prime target. It's also the province Sun Jian had recently taken from Liu Bei. Payback is a b*tch.

It is month 12 of the year 256, and Sun Jian's legacy ends, and Liu Bei strikes gold with 84 prisoner officers.

On the same month Liu Bei also wrests Chengdou away from Dong Zhou's deathly grasp.

Then, something unthinkable happens. Wu Obi is appointed as Jnr Secretary.

Wu Obi, dazed, pads around the palace barefoot and is rewarded with many stares directed at his fashion. He then inadvertently wanders into a rather serious looking meeting. Zhuge Liang: "I come representing the collection of your vassals."

Liu Bei: "What can I do for you?"

Zhuge Liang: "Considering the size of your army, we feel that the title "South Off. (defense)" is more fitting for you."

Wu Obi: (Such bad name, wow.) Liu Bei: "You wish to call me South Off. (defense)?"

Zhuge Liang: "Yes. That is what we have decided."
Wu Obi: (Very courage.)

Liu Bei: "Very well. From now on, you may refer to me as South Off. (defense)!"

Zhuge Liang: "Yes my lord!"

Wu Obi: (What.)
Earned honors are announced but Wu Obi has no expectations.

Wu Obi: (What.) Wen Official: "Wu Obi's contributions were deemed worthy of praise and reward."

Wu Obi: "I am honored."

Mi Zhu: "I think I'll need to work harder to keep up with you."
Wu Obi: "No you don't."

Wen Official: "Liu Bei is proud of everyone's hard work."

Wu Obi is rewarded 500 merit and 1000 gold for his hard work.

The sight of so much gold causes a single drop of tear to escape from Wu Obi's eyes.
Servant: "Liu Bei says that he wishes to promote you from Rank 6 to Rank 5."

Twin water falls form beneath Wu Obi's tender eyes. Wu Obi: "I am deeply honored. Report that I will redouble my efforts in service to Liu Bei."

Mere days later a messenger arrives. Messenger: "Liu Bei has appointed Wu Obi title Chief of Records."

Servant: "Liu Bei has appointed Wu Obi as governor of Jiangling. Wu Obi was granted power in Jiangling to manage missions and assign ministers.

Wu Obi: (This is happening all too fast.)

Wu Obi: (Wait, I can fire Mi Zhu.) With his newfound power Wu Obi fires Mi Zhu from his domestic minister position, and makes powerful men his female dogs.

Oddly enough Wu Obi is rewarded for his boldness.

Sun Ce: "Proper training means the difference between life and death. Why not train the Horse in Jiangling?"

Wu Obi: "I feel the same. Let us go with your plan."

Wu Obi: (How easy. I love this job.) Wu Obi, suddenly feeling empowered, summons Mi Zhu. Wu Obi: "I would like you to improve commerce in Jiangling."

Mi Zhu: "I accept the task. Gold shall flow into the city like never before."

Wu Obi: (Is it getting chilly in here.)
Soon, Wu Obi will find that his spring has passed, and that winter is coming.
